PDF to flashcards

Turn a PDF of practice questions into flashcards

Reading a question with the answer printed right below it isn't practice. ExamYeti puts each question from your PDF on its own card and hides the answer until you ask for it.

How the flashcards work

Question first

You see the question and its answer options, and decide on your answer before anything is revealed.

Answer when you ask

Reveal the correct answer, with the explanation if your file has one. That pause is what makes it stick.

No clock

Move forward and back at your own pace. When you're ready for pressure, switch the same questions to a timed exam.

These are question flashcards, not term-and-definition cards ExamYeti makes one card per multiple-choice question that is already in your PDF. It doesn't use AI to turn notes or a textbook into cards. If you need front-and-back vocabulary cards, a general flashcard app will suit you better; see how ExamYeti compares.

Why study questions as flashcards?

Pulling an answer out of your memory teaches you more than reading it again. Flashcards force that small effort on every question, which is why they work well for a first pass through new material, before you worry about speed.

Listen instead of reading

Every card has a Read aloud button that speaks the question, the answer options and, once revealed, the answer. It uses the voices built into your browser, so there is nothing to install and it works at 0.75× to 1.5× speed.

What you need

A text-based PDF with numbered questions, lettered answers and the correct answer marked. Pasted text and our spreadsheet template (saved as CSV) work too. Details are on the PDF import page.

Make flashcards from your questions

Import one file free. The whole file is read, and the first 25 questions are yours to practice. No card needed.
